Pulse Fitness UX

UI/UX Design Pulse Fitness 2024 8 weeks
Pulse fitness app UX design in progress

Overview

Pulse had a powerful workout engine buried in a confusing app. I redesigned the full mobile UX — training plans, progress tracking, and coaching touchpoints — around one metric: workouts completed per week.

Weekly active users climbed steadily after the redesign, and support tickets about navigation nearly disappeared.
— Jonas Feld, Head of Product at Pulse Fitness

The challenge

Feature overload: four navigation levels, duplicate tracking screens, and a paywall that appeared mid-workout. Reviews complained the app "fights you" more than the workout does.

Approach & solution

I cut navigation to three tabs, made the current workout the home screen, and moved upsells to natural rest moments. Twenty remote tests validated each iteration, and the design system now covers 90+ components the team reuses.
